Crash on I-580

In the early hours of Thursday, a tragic incident shook the community of Livermore, California, when a motorcyclist lost their life in a violent crash on westbound Interstate 580 near the North Livermore Avenue exit. According to information provided by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to several media outlets, the accident occurred as the motorcyclist attempted to pass between a sedan and a semi-truck. Unfortunately, in the attempt, they were struck and subsequently run over by the truck. CHP spokesperson Officer Tyler Hahn revealed to CBS News that the motorcyclist, a man approximately 40 years old, was traveling at speeds ranging between 80 and 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash. As a result of this tragic accident, authorities closed multiple westbound lanes of I-580, except for the FastTrak lane, causing significant chaos in morning traffic. According to KTVU reports, the affected lanes were reopened at 8:23 a.m., though traffic congestion persisted in the area well into the morning, affecting commuters in the region.
