In the early hours of Thursday, a tragic incident shook the community of Livermore, California, when a motorcyclist lost their life in a violent crash on westbound Interstate 580 near the North Livermore Avenue exit. According to information provided by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to several media outlets, the accident occurred as the motorcyclist attempted to pass between a sedan and a semi-truck. Unfortunately, in the attempt, they were struck and subsequently run over by the truck.
CHP spokesperson Officer Tyler Hahn revealed to CBS News that the motorcyclist, a man approximately 40 years old, was traveling at speeds ranging between 80 and 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash. Witnesses to the incident stated that the motorcyclist had been maneuvering between vehicles, leading to the fatal collision with the truck.
As a result of this tragic accident, authorities closed multiple westbound lanes of I-580, except for the FastTrak lane, causing significant chaos in morning traffic.
