Incident in Santa Clarita
Authorities from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station reported a severe traffic accident involving four vehicles in Saugus, resulting in one car catching fire and one person being taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Bouquet Canyon Road and Seco Canyon Road and was reported at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday, according to authorities from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. Firefighters reported that paramedics arrived at the accident scene at 10:22 a.m.
A report from the scene indicated that a white Kia Soul had crashed into a wall on the south side of Bouquet Canyon Road. Parts of the vehicle, including a charred battery, were scattered on that side of the street and sidewalk. The Kia had a smashed front bumper, and motor oil could be seen and smelled near where it was parked.
In addition to the Kia, a white Toyota Sequoia with minimal visible damage was stopped near the central median. Next to it, a dark-colored SUV had significant damage to its front bumper. A black Toyota SUV was facing the opposite direction on the south side of the street and had visible damage to its rear bumper.
All the vehicles involved in the accident were towed from the scene. Due to the magnitude of the incident, Bouquet Canyon Road, from Espuella Drive to Seco Canyon Road, was closed to traffic while cleanup efforts were underway and the causes of the crash were investigated.
As of now, no information was available about the cause of the accident. Officers remained at the accident scene at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. A station officer stated that, based on the preliminary information available, the incident did not appear to have a criminal nature.
