I-80 Crash
Monday morning, eastbound traffic on Interstate 80 at the Causeway was severely affected due to an accident. The California Highway Patrol received the emergency call around 5:17 a.m. to respond to a collision between two vehicles that occurred between Webster and West Sacramento, near the exit for Chiles Road. According to California Highway Patrol records, the incident occurred when a car ran out of gas in the middle of traffic and was rear-ended by another vehicle that couldn't stop in time.
The collision resulted in a complete traffic halt in the area, causing significant delays in driver mobility during the morning rush hour. By 6:30 a.m., although the situation remained complicated, it was reported that traffic was starting to flow again, albeit at a slow pace.
Despite the severity of the crash and the resulting blockage, it was unclear if anyone had been injured in the incident. Authorities were working to clear the accident scene and fully restore traffic flow on the highway.
Drivers were urged to take alternative routes and exercise caution when traveling through the affected area. Traffic congestion caused by the accident left many travelers stranded in their vehicles, resulting in a chaotic start to the week for those relying on Interstate 80 for their commutes.
