Santa Clara Crash

A tragic accident shook the tranquility of Monday afternoon on Highway 25, south of Santa Clara County, resulting in a woman's death and a man injured after a collision between a large truck and a car. The incident, reported around 12:40 p.m. at the intersection with Bloomfield Avenue, located about 2 miles south of Gilroy, has caused shock in the local community. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Alfredo Uribe, a 2016 Freightliner truck with trailer was traveling north on Highway 25 at a speed of 40 mph when a Hyundai Elantra attempted to turn left from Bloomfield Avenue heading west to merge onto the highway. Unfortunately, the truck collided with the side of the car, causing serious damage. The driver of the Hyundai, whose identity will be disclosed by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office once confirmed and after identifying their closest relatives, suffered injuries so severe that they proved fatal. On the other hand, the truck driver suffered minor injuries to one of his hands as a result of the crash. Officer Uribe emphasized that, according to preliminary investigations, there were no indications that drug or alcohol consumption had contributed to the accident. However, authorities have urged anyone with relevant information about the case to contact the Hollister-Gilroy area office of the California Highway Patrol at 408-427-0700. This tragic event highlights the importance of road safety and the need for caution behind the wheel, reminding us that prudence and respect for traffic rules are essential to prevent accidents that can end in tragedy.
