Tragedy on Highway 91
In a tragic incident on Highway 91 in Orange County, a driver lost their life while attempting to fix their broken-down vehicle. The accident occurred shortly after midnight when the victim's vehicle was stopped on the shoulder heading westbound on the highway, specifically between Green River Drive and Highway 241. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the driver was outside their vehicle working on it when another driver, for reasons still unknown, lost control of their car and struck them, throwing them into the lanes of the highway.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, the victim, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. On the other hand, the driver who collided with the victim apparently emerged uninjured. So far, no information has been provided on the exact causes that led the driver to lose control of their vehicle.
The impact had a significant effect on traffic, as all westbound lanes, except for the FastTrack lanes, had to be closed for several hours. At 7:15 a.m., Sky5 was over the scene as crews worked to remove the cones and prepare for the reopening of the highway. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with stopping on the shoulder of a highway, as well as the importance of driving cautiously and being attentive at all times while behind the wheel.
