Interstate 80 Crash
California Highway Patrol successfully cleared the wreckage of a solo big rig crash on Interstate 80, amid snowy conditions on Thursday.
The incident occurred before 8 a.m. near the Donner Lake interchange, blocking all lanes of eastbound I-80. Despite the severity of the crash, the driver sustained only minor injuries, with CHP Truckee acknowledging the driver's luck in a social media post.
Following the crash, lanes were reopened before noon, allowing traffic to resume. The incident comes as the Lake Tahoe region faces a strong storm, prompting a blizzard warning for most of eastern California and the greater Lake Tahoe area.
This warning, in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday, extends from the Oregon border to the southern Sierra and includes communities around the Tahoe basin, such as Kings Beach and South Lake Tahoe.
