Accident in Santa Ana
In the early hours of February 17, 2024, the Santa Ana Police Department was inundated with distress calls reporting a traffic accident at the intersection of Bristol Street and Alton Avenue. Responding swiftly, SAPD officers, accompanied by the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), arrived at the scene to find a collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle. Tragically, the bicyclist was pronounced dead on-site by OCFA personnel.
According to initial findings, the vehicle was heading northbound on Bristol St. nearing Alton Ave. when it collided with a bicyclist traversing eastbound across the northbound lanes. The driver, demonstrating responsibility, stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with law enforcement during the ensuing investigation.
As of now, it remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident. The precise cause of the collision is currently under intense scrutiny.
