Fatal Collision in Bonsall
An 86-year-old man named Thomas Carl Asper from Fallbrook met a tragic end in a rollover crash on Interstate 15, according to local medical authorities. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his identity on their website. The incident, involving two vehicles, took place at around 7:40 a.m. on the southbound off-ramp to Old Highway 396 in the Bonsall area.
Reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicate that the elderly man was driving a Toyota SUV southbound on Old Highway 395, just north of the intersection with the southbound I-15 off-ramp, when a Jaguar XF, driven by an 18-year-old woman, collided with his vehicle at the intersection. The force of the impact caused the Toyota to roll over, leading to the driver being ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency services rushed the victim to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, as confirmed by law enforcement sources. Fortunately, the woman driving the Jaguar, hailing from Wildomar, California, emerged from the collision unscathed.
The CHP has appealed for anyone with information regarding the incident or who may have witnessed it to come forward and contact the Oceanside Area CHP office at 760-643-3400.
