Fatal Head-On Collision on Lompoc
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has disclosed fresh details concerning a tragic head-on collision that occurred in Lompoc on Sunday. The incident transpired around 3:30 p.m. at the junction of Highway 246 and Mission Gate Rd.
According to the CHP, the driver of a 1997 Saab sedan, headed westbound, veered across the double yellow lines, encroaching into the eastbound lanes until nearly half of the vehicle was on the opposite side. Subsequently, the front of the Saab collided with an oncoming Chevrolet pickup.
Tragically, the Saab's driver, a 43-year-old resident of Lompoc, lost his life in the collision. However, his identity has not been disclosed as of yet. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, a 28-year-old from Solvang, sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
