High-Speed Chase in Tracy
A routine traffic stop in Tracy escalated into a violent confrontation with a murder suspect. Last Friday, Tracy police officers attempted to pull over 33-year-old Fernando David Perez for speeding and suspected DUI. Instead of complying, Perez rammed his vehicle into a marked patrol car and initiated a pursuit. The chase culminated in Perez losing control of his vehicle and crashing into an orchard off Schulte Road and Chrisman Road.
Despite attempting to flee on foot, Perez was apprehended after police deployed a stun gun. Further investigation revealed that Perez, a Tracy native, was wanted for homicide by the Atwater Police Department. He was subsequently booked into San Joaquin County Jail on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, evading arrest, DUI, and firearms-related offenses.
Thankfully, no officers sustained injuries during the incident. Perez received treatment for minor injuries at a local hospital before being taken into custody.
