Collision on Redrock Randsburg Road

A tragic car accident occurred on January 8th around 8:30 a.m. on Redrock Randsburg Road, just west of Garlock Road. The California Highway Patrol officers from the Mojave area swiftly responded to a report of a head-on collision. According to the official report released later that same day, Carolin Smith, a 53-year-old resident of California City, was driving a 2021 white Mercedes in the westbound direction on Redrock Randsburg Road. Tragically, her vehicle collided head-on with a 2021 white Hyundai that was traveling eastbound. The Hyundai's driver, a 53-year-old woman from Topeka, Kansas, lost her life at the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, a 49-year-old male passenger from California City sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital. Ms. Smith was also transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with significant injuries. The initial CHP report indicates that driver impairment is not suspected to have contributed to this devastating collision at this time. The identity of the deceased victim can be obtained by contacting the Kern County Coroner's Office.
