Accident in Lakeside

A spill of food truck grease on State Route 67 caused traffic complications on Tuesday morning in Lakeside. The grease spill was reported in the southbound lanes of the highway near Willow Road at around 4:40 a.m. According to the records of the California Highway Patrol, a food truck that passed over the road appeared to have a hole in its tank, resulting in an unknown amount of waste spilling onto the roadway. Environmental crews were called to the scene. At this time, it doesn't appear to be toxic, but the California Highway Patrol reported that the spill has created slippery conditions for drivers. Traffic slowed down in both directions of the highway from approximately Winter Gardens Boulevard to San Vincente Avenue ahead of the morning rush hour. According to Caltrans San Diego, all southbound traffic is being diverted to Willows Road. No further details are available immediately.
