Highway 1 Crash
Emergency services in Santa Barbara County received a call about a serious multiple-vehicle accident near Vandenberg Space Force Base on Highway 1 Tuesday night. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident involved six vehicles, prompting an immediate response from rescue teams and local authorities.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department deployed several units to the accident site and confirmed that four people were injured. One patient was ejected from a vehicle and was in critical condition, prompting urgent transport by helicopter to Marion Regional Medical Center for specialized medical care.
Additionally, three other patients were taken to Marion Regional Medical Center, two with moderate injuries and one with minor injuries. Both Vandenberg and Santa Barbara County firefighters provided support at the scene, working together to stabilize the situation and provide medical attention to the injured.
As a result of the accident, CHP temporarily closed the southbound lane of Highway 1 to allow emergency teams to safely and efficiently perform their work. Police are investigating the causes of the accident to determine the exact circumstances that led to this chain collision.
