Fatal Accident in Hayward:
HAYWARD, California — A 52-year-old man died following a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Jackson Street and Diadon Drive, according to the Hayward Police Department.
On Friday, July 19, 2024, at approximately 1:40 p.m., officers responded to reports of a collision involving a vehicle traveling eastbound on Jackson Street. The driver apparently veered off the road and collided with a cement pillar.
Officers arrived at the scene to find the driver suffering from major injuries. The man, who was not a Hayward resident, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. On July 20, 2024, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin and proper identification protocols through the Alameda County Coroner's Office.
Investigative steps are being taken to determine whether alcohol was a factor in the collision. This is an ongoing investigation, and more details will be released as they become available.
